| My external print server / ip controller / thin client display / is intermittently losing power. What causes this to happen?
There are a couple of things we have discovered that can cause this issue. First, take a look at the tip of the power supply connector which plugs into the I-O device. There is a colored ring on the tip. If the colored ring is red, the center hole is too large for the mating pin on the box, thus causing a loose connection. Another problem we have run across is oxidation of the wiper on the power connector for the I-O box. Look at the power connector on the box, you will see a pin in the center and a metal wiper underneath the pin. Hold the box in the light and look at the wiper. The wiper should be shiny. If the wiper is dull and tarnished looking, we are not getting a good connection. If you have an exacto knife you can gently scrape the oxidation off the wiper. If you don't have an exacto knife, unplug the power supply from the wall and then plug and unplug the connector into and out of the box several times to scrape the oxidation off the contact point.
