Article #278 - How do I add a FormPort trigger or form to my CF
Updated:02-18-2006 - Views: 408
Forms designed with FormPort Software are stored in the CompactFlash in the target printer. In order to lay this form on top of AS/400 data a Trigger must also be loaded into the CompactFlash. The trigger is nothing more than a unique string found within the AS/400 sourced data defined to the CompactFlash. When the CompactFlash "sees" this trigger the associated form is loaded onto the physical paper and merged with the AS/400 sourced data.

To load a form and / or trigger into the printer's Compact Flash follow the steps below.

A. Start your web browser
B. Input the TCP/IP address of your printer in the browsers URL window and press Enter.
C. If required on your printer, Log In
D. Select the Settings Tab
E. Select the FormPort button
F. Under the ?Upload Form Definition File? selection, select Browse
G. Navigate to where the form, (the .fpf file) resides on the PC
H. Double click the xx.fpf file name
I. Click the Upload File button and wait while the file is loaded into the CF.

To add a trigger to the Compact flash in the ?Forms Trigger List? section, select ADD.

A. Enter the Line Number, Column Number where the trigger string will be found.
B. Enter the Trigger String itself
C. In the Form Definition File window, use the drop down window to select the name of the .fpf file to call when the trigge criteria is met.
D. Click on the Apply button.

Close your web browser.
