I-O Print Server Setup for Windows 2000/2003/XP Printing.
Use the following steps to enabling printing from Windows 2000 to an I-O Print Server attached printer.

1. From the Start button, select the Control Panel, then select Printers.

2. Click the Add Printer icon.

3. On the Welcome screen, click the Next button.

4. On the Local or Network Printer screen, click the Local printer radial button. Then click the Next button.

5. On the Select a Printer Port screen, Click the Create a new port radial button.

6. In the drop down box, select Standard TCP/IP Port option. Then click the Next button.

7. On the Welcome screen, follow the instructions given, then click the Next button.

8. On the Add Port screen, enter the IP Address for the I-O Print Server in the Printer Name or IP Address field.

In the Port Name field, either accept the default name created by Windows, or enter a name of your choice. Then click on the Next button. (If creating multiple printers for this Print Server you must use a name rather than the Servers ip address.)

9. On the Additional Port Information Required screen, click on the Custom radial button.
Click the Settings button.

On the Port Settings screen, in the Protocol section, click the LPR radial button.

In the LPR Settings section, in the Queue Name field, enter the name of the I-O Print Server port the printer is attached to. Available choices are LPT1, LPT2, COM1 or TCP1, TCP2, TCP3. (Choosing TCP1, TCP2 or TCP3 will allow you to use I-O?s Configuration Utility to control the use of banner pages, etc.) I-O recommends the following Queue Name if using an LPT port: LPT1_nb_nt_nff

This will tell the I-O Print Server to use LPT1 with no banner and trailing pages, and no extra form feeds. In the above example, replace the LPT1 with TCP1 or another desired port without the _nb_nt_nff extension.

Check the LPR Byte Counting Enabled option which will resolve an issue with Windows sending an extra blank page. Then click the OK button.

10. On the Additional Port Information Required Screen, click the Next button.

11. On the Completing ? screen, review the information. When done click the Finish button.

12. On the Install Printer Software Screen select the correct Printer Manufacture and Printer Model from the provided lists or install from disk. Click the Next button. (For Barcode or specality printers select Generic and Text Only)

13. On the Use Existing Driver Screen, make the appropriate choice for the printer driver. Click the Next button.

14. On the Name your Printer Screen enter the text Windows 2000 will associate with the printer Icon. Select Yes or No to make this printer the Windows default printer. Click the Next button.

15. On the Printer Sharing Screen select your Preference.
Click the Next button.

16. On the Print Test Page Screen select Yes, then Click the Next button.

17. On completing the Add Printer Wizard Screen, review the information for accuracy, use the back button to make changes if necessary, then select Finish.
