Article #93 - Can I connect my Twinax IPDS printer to the AS/400 via TCP/IP?
Updated:03-16-2006 - Views: 251
Yes, you can connect your Twinax attached IPDS printer to the AS/400 via the LAN and TCP/IP using either the I-O LANRPC or the I-O 5794ip Controller.

In either case, configuration of the printer will be done by PPR/PPD, Anynet, or SNA. In the case of Anynet or SNA, if communication from the LANRPC or the 5794ip Controller to the AS/400 goes through a router or a switch, you must configure and use the protocol ANYNET. In almost all cases a router or switch will be involved and so ANYNET must be used. However, if the AS/400 is on the same local LAN segment SNA could be used rather than ANYNET.
