Article #98 - Coax IPDS printer attached to the LRPC consistently stops printing
Updated:02-18-2006 - Views: 656
The LRPC driving my Coax IPDS printer will print small jobs just fine. However on larger jobs the output just stops with no host or printer error message. Why is this happening.

A customer reported their COAX IPDS LRPC driven printer would stop printing on page 18 of larger jobs. The printer was very consistent in stopping at page 18, yet smaller jobs would print fine. A diagnostics printout, generated from the diagnostics port on the LRPC showed no error of any kind, there was simply no further data sent from the host.

The solution was to have the enduser change a system printer value called CKPTPAGE from the system default of 100 to a value of 1. When CKPTPAGE's value was set to 1 the problem vanished and all jobs sent to the LRPC printed fine.
